Question by To Lazy To Spell Check: How do i get my husband realize his landscaping ideas and designs are just horrible!?!?
My husband is very much a control freak and anti “women have good ideas” kind of man.. (why am i with him? i dont know but thats a whole other topic) Now he is NOT creative, but he thinks he is….ive always been artistically gifted and creative since i was a child and would like to say i think i have really great plans and ideas…not to mention i read a lot of gardening magz. We are trying to “spruce up” our garden and this is in an area that a lot of people see (very Traffic-y and about the only thing to look at for awhile) Now he has horrible decorative ideas but he thinks he is gods gift to gardening layouts. I cant stand what he wants to do and where he wants to place things, but he argues with me saying “I have no idea what im talking about, and leave the planning up to him” But honestly, he is just horrible and soooo boring… what on earth do i do, since a ton of people will see this area and i dont want to look like an idiot?!?

Tell him it has to be a joint undertaking. Give way to him on the smaller unimportant aspects, but mainly get your own way – in a very suble diplomatic way, that makes it look as if they were his ideas.

Question by jep6363: Killing and Controlling Weeds for “Desert Landscaping”?
I live in Arizona and have “desert landscaping” – that is, no grass just small rocks in my yard. I’m wondering what the best way is to manage the grasses and weeds that come up through the rocks. This happens all year long but more often in the winter (now) and less often in the summer months. I’ve tried some weed killers which have been so-so – I spend a lot of time spraying but not all get killed. Should I just pull them out by hand?

I have the same type of yard and Ihad the same type of problems with weeds and grass. I ended up putting plastic under the dirt, so grass and weeds would not grow. It workd and was totally worth it
