Perennial lilies add height, drama, elegance
If like me — always on the lookout for new plants to add to your flower garden — then hardy perennial lilies are a must. The different types include Asiatic with mostly up-facing flowers. They tend to be short and early blooming, like Lilium “Red Velvet” with rich dark red flowers on sturdy stems. Oriental types include Lilium auratum platphyllum, also known as the Gold Band lily, and are fragrant, taller, later- blooming and with flowers that face outward. Trumpet types are also fragrant.
